Resolve To Try Something New This Year

Wine GlassesEvery January, it’s just the same: Our lists of resolutions hang on the fridge, motivating and haunting us in equal measure as we set out to do the work required to achieve those goals. But here at Winfield-Flynn, we have one resolution you’re sure to want to tack onto that daunting list: Try at least one new wine a month.

Of course, you can personalize that goal. Maybe, “Try one new wine a week,” is more your speed (we know it’s ours!). Or if you’re relatively new to the wine world, you may want to go with, “Try one new type of wine per week.” There’s a lot more to wine than Merlot and Zinfandel!

Our top picks this month: 2007 Chateau Lacapelle Cabanac - Cahors "Prestige" and a bottle of 2010 Weingut Summerer - Gruner Veltliner Langenlois. Both are sure to please newcomers and wine aficionados alike.

No matter how you personalize your wine-tasting goals, we’ve got just the right selection to keep you on track.

Join the conversation on our Facebook page or stop on by the shop and let us know what your “New Wines Resolution” is for 2012!

It’s The Playoffs! Time For Brew or Something New?

Football Sunday used to mean beers with the buds and an afternoon in the man cave. And, sure, sometimes it still does. This month, bench those boring brews, and gear up for the playoffs with some Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

You’re guaranteed a flag on the play with the same old 6-packs. Toss out the old playbook and score big with your guests this weekend with a bottle of Patron Silver Tequila. Afterward, celebrate your team’s big win just like the team will: by popping the cork on a great bottle of Perrier-Jouet – Brut Champagne.

Perrier-Jouët - Brut Champagne NV (750ml)
Sweet, smooth and ripe-tasting, with honey and apple flavors. But they turn thick and chalky on the finish. Flavorful, but a bit off balance.
